Muévete is a marimba ensemble that loves to get people on their feet and moving! The band has been playing together for many years, during which they have performed at festivals (Vancouver World Music Festival, Vancouver Island Music Festival, Richmond World Festival, Surrey Fusion Festival, and many more) and concerts around the province. This year, the group has been working hard on writing original songs that they can’t wait to share.

Organic Ocean Demo featuring Chef Rob Clark

Chef Robert Clark is the Chief Culinary Officer at Organic Oceans Seafood. Known for his appearances on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and "Iron Chef America," Chef Clark will be showcasing his passion for sustainable seafood on the culinary stage through a cooking demo of wild BC salmon dumplings. Autographed copies of Chef Clark’s "C Food" cookbook will be available onsite through a raffle that supports Surrey’s Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP) team of local youth that enhance wild salmon habitats and raise awareness about the importance of urban streams for indigenous fish species.

Pan African Dance Heritage

Pan African Dance Heritage is non-profit organization,  a youth and adult traditional music, dance, drumming group based in the capital of Ghana, Accra.

The group, since its inception, has thrilled diverse audiences in the country and beyond with its own variations of traditional music and dance as well as contemporary dance pieces.

Through their dedication to African art, the Government of Ghana, under the auspices of the Ministry Of Culture and the National Commission on Culture, enabled the organization to represent the country in so many international platforms. Which include the Korat International Festival (Thailand 2017/2018) (Taiwan 2017), Russia 2016, Ukraine 2018, Oman 2017, Qatar 2018 and many more.

The Group travel with an array of African drums, the group has endeared itself to the hearts of Ghanaian cultural music fans with its complex rhythms that expose the beauty and diversity of Ghana and African music, drumming and dances.

Shawn Bullshields was born and raised in Southern Alberta and is a member of the Blackfoot Nation. In 2010, he began pursuing music professionally in Vancouver. Since 2015, Shawn has been performing full-time on Granville Island. As a singer and guitarist, he has a natural charisma and professional delivery that combines a repertoire of songs from the genres of pop, blues, country, and folk. The point where these genres intersect is through his masterful singing voice. He commands instant attention because his voice conveys the truth, beauty, and deep meaning within each song, expressed with the full weight of his personal life experiences.

On December 22nd, 2009, SEACHS registered with the BC Registry to become an official non-profit organization.
SEACHS engages in training and educating Canadians about Southeast Asian cultures. It seeks to encourage young people, in particular, to become involved in the preservation and promotion of various forms of Southeast Asian culture. Through these activities, it hopes to create a forum where people can engage in activities that promote Southeast Asian cultural heritage. This cultivates wellness within local Southeast Asian-Canadian communities and the wider public, enriching the diversity of Canadian society.

Steph Strings is an Australian based singer, songwriter from Melbourne, Australia who tells a story through her music.
With influences from the John Butler Trio, Kim Churchill and Ziggy Alberts, Steph’s musical style entails bursts of percussion alongside Celtic, blues and coastal fingerstyle indie-rock.

Stories on Wheels is an original street theatre storytelling act for the whole family. Tales are brought to life by a high-energy comic performer using beautifully illustrated picture cards displayed on a magnificent miniature wooden stage attached to a unique bicycle.

The show combines the best of oral storytelling and narrative painting. Featuring gorgeous illustrations by local artists, as well as traditional picture cards from Japan, several short stories are told with music, dramatic action, and audience interaction. Additionally, the audience gets to hear an amusing and informative history of the art form. You’ve never experienced storytelling quite like this before! Stories On Wheels has been touring throughout Western Canada since 2010.

For almost 30 years, the Surrey International Folk Dancers have been welcoming people of all ages to enjoy dancing together. They teach, learn and share folk dances set to ethnic music from around the world in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The musical group SweetPan is all about Canadians playing the steel drum, 'pan', the only acoustic musical invention of the 20th century, & clearly a major Caribbean contribution to world culture. We specialize in Caribbean rhythms on the many different sizes of drum & have played for dances, weddings, corporate events, community events & interactive concerts since 1994. Our leader & arranger, Bernard Fernandes, draws on his vast repertoire & experience of the Caribbean to lend both an innovative & authentic touch!
Musical repertoire includes Caribbean, Reggae, Soca, Salsa, Pop and many others.

Teta is a young Rwandan dancer and entertainer who performs various styles, including Rwandan Traditional Dance called “Amaraba”.

She has been dancing from a young age and was inspired by her mother, who was also a traditional dancer. This is her second time performing at Surrey Fusion Festival, where she shared her culture and beautiful dance last year.

Teta has been part of different dance troupes in her home country and now performs at various cultural events in British Columbia. She is also a member of the Rwandan traditional dance troupe in Vancouver called "Indangamirwa".

Some of the events she has participated in include the Celebration of Africa Day in Victoria, All Over the Map music series, Black Music Festival 2023, and Visit Rwanda Roadshow 23/24, to name a few.

 

The Deos are three siblings (Kaushal, Karishma, and Krishan) from Vancouver, Canada, who sing and create music blending their cultural roots with American pop music.

Karishma Deo studied songwriting and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and has trained in Indian classical music, Western vocals, and music theory since she was 10 years old. She has performed at the 2018 Juno Awards and concerts for many Bollywood singers in Canada and America. Karishma has released original songs in English and Hindi titled "Sansani” and "Jhumo to the Rhythm”! You can find her on Instagram @karishma_deo.

Kaushal Deo is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter from Vancouver, Canada. He sings in Hindi and English, drawing inspiration from Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, and The Weeknd.
